It all started in 1922, three generations ago, when Ananias Karachanidis left the Pontus of Asia Minor and returned to his place of origin, Sparta, determined himself and his family to engage in the trade of olives and olive oil. In combination with his hard work, high-quality raw materials of the Laconian land, let him to create a small company that traded oils in Laconia.

In 1952, Efstratios and Anastasios Karachanidis, sons of Ananias Karachanidis, joined the company and thus the company began its commercial activity more intensively.

In 1982, the grandson of the founder, Ananias Karachanidis, enters the company, continuing the tradition with the same zeal and diligence. The company now has one of the most modern standardization units in Greece and an increasingly powerful and vast distribution network. The products “ananias”, “sparta” and “eolia” were available in the largest food stores in Athens and the province, exported to countries such as England, Sweden, the United States and South Africa, always maintaining the high quality and purity that tradition imposes.

In 2000 the company is acquired by the company Soya Mills S.A. and is renamed Hellenic Fine Oils S.A.

In 2002, Ananias Karachanidis left the Hellenic Fine Oils S.A. company.

Karpea S.A. was founded in 2003 by Ananias Karachanidis, as a natural continuation of his past success and his passion for extra virgin olive oils and olives.

In 2011 the company registers its own bottle “Karpea” patented all over the world.

In 2020 Dimitris Karachanidis, son of Ananias Karachanidis, after completed his studies, enters the company.

Today the company has a presence in Greece and abroad with the Karpea brand, while also having some strategic collaborations, offering products with private label.
